FIRST PROTONS ON ESS-BILBAO FRONT-END

The ESS-Bilbao ITUR Ion source has been successfully brought on line this week at the Bilbao Front End Test Stand.
 
This is tremendous progress for the project and marks a significant step in the start of the transition of the project from construction to operation.
 
Among others: the Control, Plant Engineering, RF, Accelerator Physics and High Power Supply Groups collaborative effort has been put in place.
 
A special acknowledgment is owed to ISIS and SNS for their unwavering support. To end up, the success witnessed today would have been far harder to achieve without the concourse of local companies like Elytt Energy (magnets and  accelerator components), JEMA (power electronics) and the remarkable support lent by the Tekniker technology center.
